Car Rental Service License Insurance
All our partner rental companies hold a "Car Rental Service License Insurance," which permits them to rent vehicles for commercial use.Third-Party Liability Insurance
The rental vehicles are covered by third-party insurance, providing compensation for third-party accidents.
Importance of the Two Types of Coverage
The two types of coverage are crucial for legal compliance and protection. According to Section 52 of the Road Traffic Ordinance (Chapter 374), no one may drive or use a vehicle for hire or reward without a valid taxi license for that vehicle.
Additionally, under the Motor Vehicle Insurance (Third Party Risks) Ordinance (Chapter 272), no person may use a vehicle on the road, or allow others to do so, unless there is valid third-party insurance for that vehicle.
Failure to comply with these regulations can lead to severe penalties. Individuals convicted of using a vehicle without valid third-party risk insurance can face fines of up to HKD 10,000 and imprisonment for up to 12 months. Furthermore, their eligibility to hold or obtain a driving license may be revoked for a period ranging from 12 months to 3 years.
